2026 ALEX 10K - RACE RULES

The event is held under the rules of ASA and CGA, and any regulations of the race.

All participants do so at their own risk., they acknowledge by entering the event that,they are medically fit to do so.

Licensed athletes must belong to a club affiliated to ASA, wear club colours, and wear their 2026 license number on the front and back of their vest and the issued race number worn in front of the vest without covering the sponsor's name.

Unlicensed athletes must buy a temporary license at registration and wear plain clothing with the purchased temporary license on the back of the vests, and race number in front.

Athletes competing for category prices Must wear visible age tags.

Licensed athletes not wearing club colours will be disqualified should they win the race or qualify for the prizes below.

Medals will be handed out to all participants.

Cut-off time 9h00 am.

Prize giving will be done at 09h00 am.

The minimum age for 5km is 7 years and 19 years for 10km.

NO SECONDING ALLOWED.

Proof of age for prize winners is required and must be presented to the chief referee.

Only those who have completed all the information required in the race entry/number are eligible for the price.

14. No blades, cyclists or mechanically operated devices will be allowed in the race. Only athletes with impairments (wheelchair, blind or deaf) may register and notify the race organizer.

Pram, wheelchairs and disabled-bodied athletes will be allowed only on the 5km route.

Special permission must be requested from race organizers. All such participants must start at the back of the field.

No animals/pets are allowed to participate.

All instructions from traffic officers, marshals and race officials must be obeyed at all times.

The entry fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. In the event the race has to be
-
postponed/cancelled for reasons beyond the race organizers' control, the entry fee will be retained for the next date or race.

The race committee reserves the right to accept or reject any entry.

Water point/hydration stations will be available approximately every 2.5 km on the route.
-
No earphones - contravention of World Athletics rule 144.2b may lead to disqualification.

Club gazebos are allowed. no coal braai stands will be allowed.

Race Parking, Arrival, and Starts:

The race participant parking will be available at Altrec Sports Complex Grounds with access from: Marlboro Gautrain Station, Alex Mall, Vasco from Old Pretoria Road before 5:45 - 06:00am and Entrance to the race venue will be at East Bank Ave. Maps showing the preferred routes to the venue, surrounding streets and designated parking areas will be available. Do NOT PARK where it is not permissible or safe.
Both Races Start Times: 10km 07:00am & 5km 07:15am
Timing:

Peak Timing will be used to time all events.

The timing chip will be attached to your race number.

Please do not fold or bend your race number as this may damage the timing chip. All starts are timed mat-to-mat

Please make sure you cross all timing mats and checkpoints
Prize Giving and Awards:

The results will be posted with the race announcer with both Peak Timing and Run Alex technical team

If doping control is actioned at the event, prize money will be paid within 60 days of the results.

All prize-giving will be held from 09:00 am
Race Photos:
Our event photography partner is Tshwantsho Media and entry information
will be shared with the race photographers for them to alert you
when your race pictures are available. Entrants agree that
photographs taken by the official race photographer on event day
can be used for promotional purposes by the event and/or the
event sponsors and other independent photographers.
